Stephanie Quayle possesses a commanding vocal presence paired with matching determination, and her path in music shifted from pop into country through astute choices suited to each realm. Her sound merges modern country with deep traditional roots drawn equally from country and soul traditions. The 2017 release Love the Way You See Me marked her first national entry and produced the single “Selfish,” which reached number 57 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Further traction arrived via the 2019 EP If I Was a Cowboy, which secured brand partnerships and paved the way for the gradual climb of her 2021 single “By Heart.”

Quayle entered the world in Bozeman, Montana, on her family’s buffalo ranch, where chores in the barn exposed her to country music broadcast over the AM radio. The power of storytelling through lyrics captivated her early, prompting her to begin composing songs at age twelve. Piano lessons preceded her purchase of a used guitar at fifteen, after which she taught herself the instrument and set her words to melody. An exchange-student year in Switzerland at sixteen led her to front a local band and record an album with them before she returned to Montana.

Following graduation, Quayle relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. Her debut album, Turquoise, appeared in 2004 as a collection of country-tinged pop that achieved only modest sales, prompting a later move to Nashville to emphasize the country elements of her style. The 2009 EP No End offered a more direct country approach and featured “Ain’t No Housewife,” which also served as the title track of her second full-length album issued the same year. Rebel Engine Entertainment signed her in 2013, resulting in the seven-track EP Stand Back. The 2016 single “Drinking with Dolly,” a salute to legendary country women, introduced her third album, Love the Way You See Me, released in 2017. The 2019 EP If I Was a Cowboy contained “Whatcha Drinkin’ ’Bout,” which gained notable traction on country radio and streaming platforms. She honored her Montana roots with the 2020 EP The Montana Sessions before issuing the soul-inflected single “By Heart” in 2021.
