Ruthie Collins, a contemporary country vocalist known for her gentle approach and affinity for classic aesthetics, issued her first full-length record, Get Drunk and Cry, during 2017. Hailing originally from Fredonia, New York, where she grew up on a farmstead, Collins developed an early passion for music before opting to make it her profession later in life. She attended Berklee College in Boston but departed one term shy of completing her studies, heading instead to Nashville in pursuit of opportunities as a tunesmith.

Upon establishing herself in the Music City back in 2006, Collins teamed up with Victoria Gibson to create the duo Wild Honey, which competed on the CMT series Can You Duet in 2008. Following the group's dissolution, she concentrated on writing songs for others professionally. Her return to the stage came in 2014 via a contract with Sidewalk/Curb, which put out a self-titled EP that December; the ensuing two and a half years were spent preparing her inaugural album, ultimately unveiled on October 20, 2017. Coinciding with that launch, she secured the hosting role for A&E's Home.Made, a program centered on do-it-yourself crafts. Her follow-up effort, Cold Comfort, emerged in April 2020 and reflected a more contemplative outlook.
