Everette emerged in 2018 by channeling the relaxed groove of bro country through a set of bright country-pop tracks titled "Slow Roll," "Mugshots," and "Relapse." Brent Rupard and Anthony Olympia, both raised in Bullitt County, Kentucky, first crossed paths as adults when Rupard brought Olympia on board as his guitar instructor. Their connection prompted them to launch a band, move to Bowling Green, and perform regularly around town while finishing college. Once they earned their degrees, the pair relocated to Nashville in search of a full-time country career. Taking their name from George Clooney’s Everett role in the Coen brothers’ 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, they secured a deal with Broken Bow Records. The label issued the three singles “Relapse,” “Mugshots,” and “Slow Roll” in early 2018, all of which appeared on the ensuing Slow Roll EP. After unveiling “Just a Corona,” “Gonna Be OK,” and a live rendition of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” in 2020, Everette issued the opening half of their debut album, Kings of the Dairy Queen Parking Lot, that October. The only release in 2021 was a holiday take on Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which they soon followed with another cover, “Man of Constant Sorrow,” offered as a nod to their film-inspired moniker. The next chapter, Kings of the Dairy Queen Parking Lot Side B, began with the March 2022 single “Gonna Be a Problem” and reached listeners as a mini-LP that October.
