Biography
Hailing from Georgia yet rooted in Nashville, singer/songwriter Jon Langston cultivated a hard-driving contemporary country approach that attracted listeners throughout the mid-2010s. His 2015 EP Showtime secured initial Billboard chart placement and led to opening slots on Luke Bryan tours, paving the way for a major-label agreement that yielded the 2019 EP Now You Know. Building on that momentum, he issued successive singles such as the 2020 ballad “Try Missing You” and the hook-driven 2021 track “When You’re Lonely,” before unveiling his first full-length album, Heart on Ice, in 2023.
Born in Loganville, Georgia, Langston picked up guitar during his early teenage years before focusing on football at college. Injuries eventually curtailed that path, prompting him to revisit country music; he began composing material that he performed for friends and shared online via YouTube. Positive feedback spurred him to reach out to producer Josh Manuel, after which he traveled to Atlanta to cut his debut EP, Young & Reckless, issued independently in 2013. Drawing from country and rock touchstones that ranged from George Strait to Staind, his earliest releases performed strongly on iTunes country charts and earned him support slots with Chase Rice. A follow-up EP arrived late that year and included the upbeat single “Runnin’ on Sunshine,” co-written with fellow Georgian and former Voice contestant Jordan Rager. Pursuing greater opportunities, Langston relocated to Nashville, where he released the single “Party Boots” in 2014 and then his third EP, Showtime.
Issued in May 2015, Showtime marked Langston’s initial commercial breakthrough by peaking at number 26 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. He quickly followed with a self-titled EP in December that matched its chart performance. Expanding his palette, he joined Atlanta-based metalcore outfit Issues on a 2016 track. The 2017 single “Right Girl Wrong Time” brought further chart traction and an invitation to Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour. Early in 2018 he signed with UMG Nashville and delivered his major-label debut, the swaggering blues-inflected “When It Comes to Loving You.” Shifting to Bryan’s 32 Bridge Entertainment imprint, he returned in 2019 with the EP Now You Know. Additional singles arrived in 2020—“Drinks” and “Happy Ever After”—while 2021 brought the reflective “Try Missing You” alongside the energetic “When You’re Lonely.” Langston’s profile continued climbing over the ensuing two years; he made his Grand Ole Opry debut in early 2022 and released tracks such as “I Ain’t Country,” featuring Travis Denning, and “Day in the 90’s,” both of which appeared on his 2023 debut album Heart on Ice.
