Adam Doleac abandoned a promising path in baseball to pursue country music, fronting a self-titled band before stepping out as a solo artist in 2017. A series of steadily rising singles paved the way for a contract with Arista Nashville, which issued the streaming success “Famous” on the 2020 EP bearing the same title. That track and later releases such as “Drinkin’ It Wrong,” later gathered on the 2022 debut album Barstool Whiskey Wonderland, allowed Doleac to shape a country-pop style that accommodated both understated ballads and upbeat drinking songs while also supporting electronic remixes that retained their country foundation.

Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on April 15, 1988, Doleac balanced athletics and music from childhood, taking up drums at a young age. At the University of Southern Mississippi he focused on baseball rather than basketball or golf; the team captured three conference titles and reached the College World Series in 2009. In 2010 he wrote his first song, “That Guy.” While still playing both sports and music, he found the pull of songwriting irresistible once “Travel On” gained traction on YouTube. He issued a self-released EP titled Travel On in Hattiesburg, drew a large crowd to its launch event, and relocated to Nashville in 2012.

There he began writing professionally and performed with the Adam Doleac Band. In 2015 the band independently released Dream Catcher, around the time he signed with manager Jake LaGrone. A publishing agreement with Sony/ATV followed, placing material with Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts. The six-song EP Adam Doleac appeared on 287 Records in June 2017, highlighting his relaxed country-pop approach. Over the next two years his profile grew as “Whiskey’s Fine,” “Solo,” and “Famous” amassed substantial streaming numbers. The 2019 release Famous (Remixes) underscored his pop leanings, while the 2020 Famous EP, issued by Arista Nashville, compiled his recent singles.

Doleac continued issuing singles throughout 2020 and 2021, including “Meet Me in the City,” “Another,” and “Coulda Loved You Longer,” each offered in alternate versions—the first two stripped to acoustic arrangements and the third given a dance treatment by Petey Martin. In 2022 he unveiled “Drinkin’ It Wrong,” “Don’t It Sound Alright,” and “Girl in Love,” three tracks that preceded the September arrival of his first full-length album, Barstool Whiskey Wonderland.
