Biography
A Georgia native from Warner Robins near Macon, Travis Denning blends Southern-inflected vocals with roaring electric guitars to recount rowdy escapades from rural nights out, fueled by his tastes for hard rock and icy brews. His passion for music ignited at age seven during a ride in his father’s truck when AC/DC blasted from the stereo, sparking an eclectic appetite that embraced country, hard rock, and pop. By eleven he had taught himself to sing and play guitar, and at sixteen he launched regular performances in hometown bars even though he remained underage. He began crafting songs around the same time and issued his debut independent single, the raucous party anthem “Ready for Tonight,” in 2012.
Two years later Denning moved to Nashville and quickly secured a publishing agreement with RED Creative Group. He built a reputation writing for artists such as Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, and Chase Rice while showcasing his own material through honky-tonk appearances and social-media clips. In 2017 Universal Music Group placed him on its Mercury Nashville roster, leading to opening slots for Lanco as well as Moore and Rice. His first Mercury single, 2018’s “David Ashley Parker from Powder Springs,” chronicled a teen assuming the persona on a counterfeit ID. The follow-up, the hard-drinking “After a Few,” became his first number-one Billboard Country Airplay hit in 2019 and anchored his initial EP, Beer's Better Cold, released in 2020.
He revisited the theme of chilled beer with 2020’s “Where That Beer's Been,” which reached number 58 on Country Airplay, then delivered the EP Dirt Road Down in August 2021. The next year brought Might as Well Be Me, featuring the tracks “She's on It” and “Buy a Girl a Drink.” After a decade based in Nashville, Denning issued his first full-length project in 2024: the Paul DiGiovanni- and Jeremy Stover-produced Roads That Go Nowhere, highlighted by the HARDY collaboration “Southern Rock.”
