Jon Pardi upholds the spirit of traditional country while skillfully weaving fresh twists into its familiar forms, anchoring himself firmly at the center of the genre. The 2015 release California Sunrise propelled him to prominence through its pair of chart-topping country singles, “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt on My Boots.” His follow-up effort Heartache Medication, issued in 2019, achieved comparable success and carried his momentum into the new decade, leading to the 2022 album Mr. Saturday Night and the seasonal collection Merry Christmas from Jon Pardi the following year.

Raised in Dixon, California, Pardi developed an early passion for country music through his grandmother’s karaoke setup. Drawn to uncompromising vocalists ranging from George Jones to George Strait, he began performing as a child and delivered Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places” at his father’s birthday celebration when he was only seven. Soon afterward he took up guitar, started composing his own material at age twelve, and joined a band two years later.

Following high school graduation, Pardi teamed with friend Chase McGrew to form a duo that performed locally before the pair relocated to Chico. There they enrolled at Butte Junior College and played with the group Northern Comfort. The partnership ended in 2008 when Pardi moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. While employed as a lifeguard he pitched his songs, securing a publishing contract eighteen months after arriving. His compositions began to find homes, and he started drawing notice as a live performer.

Capitol Records Nashville signed him and paired him with producer Bart Butler. His debut single, “Missin’ You Crazy,” surfaced in spring 2012, yet it was the 2013 release “Up All Night” that delivered his initial country Top Ten entry. The full-length Write You a Song arrived in early 2014, reaching number fourteen on the Billboard Top 200 and number three on the country albums chart.

September 2015 brought the single “Head Over Boots,” the first offering from California Sunrise. The track ascended to number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and helped the album top the Country Albums ranking while peaking at number eleven on the Top 200. A second single, “Dirt on My Boots,” surpassed its predecessor by claiming the top spot on Country Airplay and extending into the pop Top 40, cementing Pardi’s breakthrough. California Sunrise remained on the charts into 2018 and yielded further successes, including “Heartache on the Dance Floor,” which reached number three in 2017, “She Ain’t in It,” which peaked at number twenty-one the same year, and “Night Shift,” which climbed to number fourteen in 2018.

Pardi issued his third album, Heartache Medication, in September 2019; it produced the hits “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” and the number-one title track. The next year he released Rancho Fiesta Sessions, a set of cover recordings. His subsequent single “Last Night Lonely,” unveiled in 2022, introduced the fourth album Mr. Saturday Night, which appeared that September and reached number five on the Country Albums chart along with number thirty-three on the Billboard 200. October 2023 saw the arrival of the holiday project Merry Christmas from Jon Pardi. That same month Pardi collaborated with Luke Bryan on the single “Cowboys and Plowboys.”
