Biography
Born and raised in Garden City, Missouri, Tyler Farr developed an early affinity for country music because his father served as lead guitarist in the touring band of legendary artist George Jones; at sixteen he even joined his father for a summer on the road. Once old enough, Farr relocated to Nashville intent on launching his own career, landing work as a bouncer at the historic Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Management eventually allowed him to perform, and he sang there four nights weekly while continuing security duties for several years afterward.
Rhett Akins discovered Farr's material and voice, securing him a publishing contract with Sony ATV/Monument Publishing that soon yielded a recording agreement with Sony Music Nashville's BNA Records. The four-song digital EP Camouflage arrived in 2010, followed by the 2012 singles "Hot Mess" and "Hello Goodbye," then "Redneck Crazy" in 2013. That track climbed to number two on Billboard's country charts, achieved platinum status, and established Farr as a rising star. The accompanying album, issued in fall 2013, debuted at five on the Billboard Top 200 and produced the further hit "Whiskey in My Water."
Farr moved swiftly to his sophomore project, issuing the single "A Guy Walks Into a Bar" in fall 2014 before unveiling the full-length Suffer in Peace in April 2015; the set delivered additional successes with "Withdrawals" and "Better in Boots." In 2016 he released the Seth Ennis co-written "Our Town," which peaked at number 53 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Over the next two years he offered one annual single—"I Should Go to Church Sometime" in 2017 and "Love by the Moon" in 2018—yet neither reached the Top 40 on Country Airplay, after which he parted ways with Sony Music Nashville. Farr joined Broken Bow in 2019 and delivered the single "Only Truck in Town" the following year.
