Biography
In 2007 the country vocal group Gloriana took form after guitar-playing brothers Tom Gossin and Mike Gossin, who had already toured as a duo in North Carolina, relocated to Nashville and crossed paths with Rachel Reinert. The three immediately clicked vocally, prompting them to expand the lineup by bringing in singer and mandolinist Cheyenne Kimball. A onetime child prodigy, Kimball had appeared in multiple television programs, including her own MTV reality series, and had released material as a solo artist on Epic Records.
The quartet developed a radio-friendly approach that drew on Fleetwood Mac, Alabama, and the California country-rock sound of the 1970s, placing special emphasis on four-part harmonies. After sending a demo to Emblem Music Group, the label recently started by producer Matt Serletic, they secured a contract and Serletic’s services as producer for their debut. The self-titled album Gloriana arrived in 2009, rose to number two on the country charts, and earned the group Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards along with Top New Vocal Group honors at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards.
Kimball exited in 2011, so the remaining trio—Tom Gossin, Mike Gossin, and Rachel Reinert—recorded their next project, A Thousand Miles Left Behind, which surfaced in 2012 and featured songs they had written or co-written in full.
