Biography
Alibi Montana entered the world in 1977 as a French rap artist whose name surfaced more often through controversies he provoked and stretches behind bars than through his recordings. The performer issued his debut album T'as Ma Parole (Got My Word) in 1999, then followed it three years later with Mandat Dépôt (Warrant Of). In 2004 he delivered the album 1260 Jours (1260 Days), a project that chronicled his imprisonment after an attempted homicide conviction, the title marking the exact duration of his confinement at Villepinte Prison. Public attention peaked in 2006 when the track "Aucun Change" was said to contain threats against newly elected French President Nicolas Sarkozy, leading the head of state to file legal complaints. After releasing the bulk of his output on Menace Records, Montana moved to a new label in 2007 and unveiled Inspiration Guerrière on September 3, an effort that reached number 15 on the French charts. He has also joined forces with other domestic acts, among them an appearance on Rohff's 2004 album La Fierté des Nôtres (This Pride of Ours).
