Alikiba, a versatile and decorated Tanzanian musician, rose to East African superstardom in 2008 upon issuing his commercially dominant first album, Cinderella.

His approach blends silky Swahili vocals with pulsating Afro-pop grooves that incorporate American hip-hop, reggae, R&B, dancehall, and longstanding Tanzanian forms such as taarab and dansi; that signature sound generated worldwide attention in 2014 when the single “Mwana” captured the Tanzanian Music Awards Song of the Year. A Sony contract arrived in 2016, immediately producing the number-one track “AJE,” and the next year he took the role of director at the music and entertainment company Rockstar4000. The East African headliner sustained his chart reign with further singles such as “Seduce Me,” “Mvumo Wa Radi,” and 2020’s “Dodo.”
