Harmonize

Rajabu Abdul Kahali, performing as Harmonize and also called Konde Boy, is a Tanzanian vocalist, songwriter and dancer whose lively mix of bongo flava and infectious Afro-pop placed him firmly in the continental mainstream toward the end of the 2010s. Operating as a solo act and multi-instrumentalist, he drew notable attention for the Diamond Platnumz collaboration “Kwa Ngaru” and for his broad 2020 album Afro East, which included guest turns from Yemi Alade and Morgan Heritage.

He first appeared in 2015 with the bright, tuneful single “Aiyola.” The next year he released “Bado,” his earliest joint effort with fellow Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz, earning the WatsUp Africa Music Video Award for Best African Newcomer Video. Later tracks such as “Happy Birthday” and “Sina” followed, but the catchy 2017 single “Kwa Ngaru,” again featuring Diamond Platnumz, became his breakthrough. The 2018 club success “Fire Waist” with Skales further broadened his reach ahead of the 2019 debut EP Afro Bongo. That same year he established his own imprint, Konde Music Worldwide, and worked with Sheebah, Eddy Kenzo and Phyno before issuing his first full-length project, Afro East, in 2020.
