Alizee

From a tender age, French pop singer Alizée immersed herself in dance instruction, soon expanding her training to encompass singing and acting. Her path crossed with singer/producer Mylene Farmer and arranger Laurent Boutonnat in 2000, resulting in the recording of her inaugural single, "Moi...Lolita." Local chart momentum from that release prompted the arrival of her debut album, Gourmandises, which showcased the subsequent hit single "L'Alizé."

Alizée captured the most promising newcomer artist honor at the M6 and NRJ Music Awards alike. She further stood out as the French female singer registering the strongest record sales in 2001.
