Pianist Andrew von Oeyen built an intense recital profile before attaining prominence through mid- and late-2010s releases on Warner Classics. His focus rests on the demanding keyboard works of Liszt and Russian composers as well as French repertoire, a direction confirmed by the 2024 recital album Angels & Demons.

Born in the United States on November 12, 1979, to German and Dutch parents, von Oeyen developed a lasting affinity for French culture. He splits his residence between Paris and Los Angeles and refers to himself as a Parisian American. Piano study began at age five; by ten he was appearing with orchestras, and at sixteen he made his Los Angeles Philharmonic debut under Esa-Pekka Salonen. Training at the Juilliard School and Columbia University yielded multiple honors, among them the 1999 Gilmore Young Artists Award. Those distinctions led to engagements with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Detroit Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Two Delos recordings appeared in the early 2010s, the first of which, issued in 2011, contained Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor. New York performances took place at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center. Abroad he has played Wigmore Hall and the Barbican in London and has collaborated with the Mariinsky Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony, the Berlin Symphony, and the Prague Philharmonia. The 2018–2019 season brought first appearances with the Louisville Orchestra and the Bilbao Symphony. Annual festival engagements have included Aspen, Chicago’s Grant Park, Ravinia with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Charleston’s Spoleto Festival USA.

Warner Classics signed him after the Delos projects. A 2016 album presented piano concertos by Ravel, Saint-Saëns, and Gershwin; two years later he joined the Prague Philharmonia for music of Ravel, Debussy, and Bizet. Following the easing of pandemic restrictions, he taped Bach, Beethoven in September 2020, observing that “Bach’s music was ideal for a concert-less world, since much of it was neither written for nor dependent upon an audience.” The album appeared on Warner Classics in 2021, and late 2024 saw the release of Angels & Demons.
