Biography
Andy Hunter distinguishes himself within electronic music circles through an uncommon spiritual grounding. While dance often links sonic energy to elevated realms, he fully embodies that dimension as a devout Christian who fuses it with funky breaks.
Born in England’s Midlands in the mid-1970s, he first engaged with music during his early teens. A developing interest in sound engineering soon led him to studio work with Suede and The Wonder Stuff in the early 1990s.
In 1992 he joined New Generation Music and Mission as a traveling engineer and settled in Bristol, where the drum ’n bass scene was emerging. Over the next five years he refined his studio approach and sharpened his production craft.
Hunter relocated to Swansea, Wales, in 1999 and launched the weekly event Absolute Drum ’n Bass, incorporating a wide mix of trance, house, and techno. He also appeared at the Escape club alongside Allstair Whitehead and Judge Jules.
Within a year he began shaping his first solo album, threading original material through meticulously crafted trance loops. Exodus reached listeners on Nettwerk in fall 2002.
In the years that followed he supplied tracks such as “Go” and “Amazing” for film, television, and advertising placements, then issued the album Life in 2005 and Colours in 2008.
