Biography
Aneta Langerová first reached widespread recognition in 2004 by claiming victory in Cesko Hleda SuperStar, the Czech edition of the Pop Idol franchise, yet the full extent of her abilities as a pop songwriter remained hidden from listeners until the arrival of her second album. Born November 26, 1986, in Benesov, Czechoslovakia, she became a household name at seventeen and issued her debut, Spousta Andelu, later that same year. Although the record, assembled from material supplied by external songwriters and producers, eventually earned the distinction of the nation’s highest-selling album of all time, Langerová felt it failed to represent her own arranging and compositional voice. Her engagement with music had begun in early childhood through piano lessons, followed by guitar, and by fourteen she was performing with the band Sazava. Several smaller regional televised contests preceded her national triumph in the 2004 talent search. After the album’s release and the attendant success, she devoted the next two years largely to live performances before turning her attention to a follow-up project. That sophomore effort, Dotyk, showcased her contributions on bass and piano in addition to vocals and guitar, with every track written or co-written by Langerová herself; the collection reached number two on the Czech charts.
