Biography
Originating in Simi Valley, California, April's Motel Room assembled in the early 1990s with vocalist Tom Kelly, guitarist Sam Nickell, bassist Mike Hoolihan, percussionist John Baffa, and drummer Erin Zidenberg. The group landed a contract on Epic Records' Immortal imprint amid the alternative-rock signing boom, yet its style aligned more closely with longstanding heavy-rock acts. Black 14 arrived in 1994 and drew generally favorable notices, though the band never separated itself from comparable outfits of the era and registered little commercial response from listeners.
