Biography
Vocalist Valtias Mustatuuli and guitarist Routa Salomeri launched the Finnish black and dark metal act Arthemesia in 1995, initially under the moniker Celestial Agony. The first demo only surfaced three years afterward once Jari "Arbaal" Mäenpää joined on guitar alongside bassist Jukka-Pekka Miettinen and drummer Oliver Fokin. Subsequent recordings appeared, yet the group repeatedly found forward momentum elusive because several members pursued side work with outfits such as Ensiferum and Cadacross. Material from those sessions eventually coalesced into the 2001 release Devs - Iratvs, although the 2004 arrival of ShamaNatahs left the ensemble’s actual standing open to speculation. Jari Mäenpää’s exit remained the sole clear development, as he departed to establish the project Wintersun.
