Aubrey

From the age of twelve Allen Saei, performing under the name Aubrey after a cartoon character, began operating turntables and soon acquired the techniques of scratching and mixing. Beyond gaining recognition as a DJ within the city’s underground circuit, he launched a prosperous record shop. His first outing arrived in 1990 when, recording as Panic, he issued the single “Voices of Energy,” followed by an EP on Wax Factory that included contributions from Chris Simmonds and Jack Smooth. In 1995 Josh Brent of Shatrax joined him to form Cheap Knob Gags. The producer’s first full-length project, Liquid Funk, appeared in 1999.
