Biography
Formed in Portugal, the gothic doom metal group Ava Inferi placed former Mayhem guitarist Rune Eriksen in charge of composition and guitar duties, with Carmen Simoes handling vocals, Jame Ferreira on bass, and Joao Samora behind the drums. Eriksen's new project issued its debut album, Burdens, in 2006, an unexpected turn that earned critical notice and prompted comparisons ranging from Moonspell to Pink Floyd for an artist emerging from one of Norway's foundational black metal acts. The Silhouette appeared as the band's second album the following year.
