Biography
In 2012 Matt Tuck of Bullet for My Valentine and Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter launched AxeWound after discovering a common passion for metal. The pair soon expanded the project into supergroup territory by enlisting Liam Cormier from Cancer Bats, Mike Kingswood of Glamour of the Kill, and Joe Copcutt from Rise to Remain, thereby assembling a roster of contemporary metalcore standouts to drive the endeavor forward with full force. Eager to sidestep the constraints and anticipations attached to their main bands, the musicians embraced an eclectic range of styles, folding in thrash, groove metal, and metalcore to counteract the uniformity that sometimes settles over the metal landscape. Their fluid songwriting rapport enabled them to generate a full album’s worth of material in less than a month, resulting in the 2012 release of their debut long-player Vultures.
