Biography
In 1994 the eclectic act Babaloo came together through the extended members of a quasi-communal living arrangement located in Boston, Massachusetts. The septet, fronted by vocalist El Presidente al Dente—who also plays kazoo and maracas—labels its sound “punk mambo” and “hardcore juju” while weaving together samba, reggae, ska, and additional styles. Completing the lineup are La'Zik Chillem, La Anguila, Pongo Jankowitz, Peter Pants, El Plenero de Pepino, and Slim "Family Man" Goodbody. On the Butcher's Ghost label the band issued Hardcore Juju (1999), Punk Mambo (2000), and En Vivo (2001), the last of which documented Babaloo’s frenetic live performances.
