Biography
St. Paul outfit Baby Boys consists of three producers who channel their shared disorder into catchy, shape-shifting pop tracks. The group’s 2021 debut album Threesome incorporated tight vocal harmonies, glitchy samples, processed organic instruments, and inventive beat programming within its vivid yet tightly held disorder.
Caleb Hinz, along with Hippo Campus members Jake Luppen and Nathan Stocker, established Baby Boys near 2018. Although the three stayed busy with other projects and outside production work, they sought an outlet unbound by the constraints that shaped those efforts. The trio convened in the studio under a no-rules approach, logging multiple overnight sessions devoted to free improvisation and open-ended exploration. Material generated during those sessions was later distilled into polished songs, the earliest set of which surfaced on the 2019 EP I’m Set. While continuing to produce for artists such as Samia and Miloe, the three friends divided their studio hours between those assignments and Baby Boys. In March of 2021 they issued their first full-length album, Threesome.
