Biography
Barbara Carlotti stands out as a celebrated French singer and songwriter immersed in the chanson tradition. She entered the world on July 2, 1974, in Clamart, a suburb of Paris. Her first recording arrived in 2005 as the mini-album Chansons, issued by the independent imprint Microbe. Positive response to that effort secured her a deal with 4AD/Beggars Group. In 2006 she released her debut full-length effort, Les Lys Brisés, and backed it with live dates across France along with appearances in Montreal, New York, London, and additional cities abroad. The track “Cannes” from Les Lys Brisés gained particular notice and received clearance for television placement. That same year she joined Michel Delpech as a duet partner on the chart-topping album Michel Delpech & for the song “Et Paul Chantait” and contributed to Bertrand Belin’s La Perdue on the track “L’Aube Posée.” She next worked with Olivier Libaux on the 2007 release Imbécile, then partnered with producer Jean-Philippe Verdin for her follow-up album L’Idéal in 2008. Alongside performances in a musical-comedy adaptation of Imbécile, she promoted L’Idéal on the road throughout 2008–2009.
