BB Diamond, a vocalist rooted in Essex, England, specializes in an eclectic pop-house crossover sound. She entered the music world by supplying backing vocals to performers including Katy B, Jess Glynne, and Clean Bandit after moving to London for study, where she formed connections with other musicians. One acquaintance, a keyboardist in Katy B’s band, alerted her to an opening for live backing singers; she applied and secured the role, which quickly opened further doors. An audition for Jess Glynne followed, leading to a yearlong tour supporting the R&B artist. Her voice soon drew notice from the Turn First management team, the same group behind the development of Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora, prompting her to begin writing original material. Drawing on childhood favorites such as Michael Jackson and Coolio, she crafted tracks that pair driving house rhythms with firm, soulful delivery. Wider recognition arrived in 2016 via the BBC Music Introducing platform, where her debut release “Instinct” earned notice for blending multiple mainstream styles.
