An innovative Christian rap collective and production outfit, Beautiful Eulogy crafts experimental hip-hop by merging their affinity for worship music, folk traditions, and electronica. The group assembled in Portland, Oregon during 2011, bringing together rapper Bryan Winchester, better known as Braille, alongside rapper Thomas Terry, who performs as Odd Thomas, and producer Courtland Urbano. Their initial collaboration occurred while tracking Braille’s seventh solo project, Native Lungs; at the time, Humble Beast label owners Odd Thomas and Urbano had intended to launch a production duo. Once the sessions concluded, Braille joined the effort, prompting the three to commit to operating as a unified trio.

After appearing on the Rapzilla charity compilation King Kulture and joining Lecrae for a track on the mixtape Church Clothes, Beautiful Eulogy issued their first full-length album, Satellite Kite, in 2012. The release displayed their wide-ranging sonic palette and lyrics rooted in theological reflection, ultimately reaching the upper half of the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. The following year they delivered their second studio album, Instruments of Mercy, led by the single “Vital Lens.” On that project the group deepened the eclectic approach of their debut while replacing digital processing with live instrumentation and analog textures, earning a number-six placement on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. Their third album, Worthy, arrived in 2017 and included appearances by Aaron Strumpel, Citizens, Art Azurdia, and additional guests.
