Biography
Belle Mt. serves as the creative vehicle for British singer/songwriter Matt Belmont, whose fusion of understated, reflective folk with expansive pop textures drew listeners toward the close of the 2010s through streaming standouts such as "Hollow" and "Loving You."
Prior to this, Belmont had spent several years releasing material as an independent folk performer under his given name before stepping away from live work in 2014. Over the following two years he turned inward to reassess his artistic direction. At the height of that interval, while residing in a modest countryside retreat belonging to a friend amid the lower slopes of the French Alps, the surrounding landscape prompted him to cultivate the richly cinematic folk-pop aesthetic that would shape his subsequent output.
Resurfacing under the Belle Mt. moniker—an appellation sounded identically to his surname—Belmont attracted the interest of Grammy-winning producer Femke Weidema, who oversaw the recording of his first EP, Volume 1, issued in 2018.
