Black Kent stands out as a leading figure in French hip-hop, distinguished by his rare willingness to rap fluently in both French and English. Born Franck Kacou in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in 1985, he escaped with his family to Kenya amid political turmoil at home before linking with C4 to create the duo RSP, which later resurfaced as the Franchise. Following his relocation to Bordeaux for academic purposes, he issued multiple mixtapes, appeared on M. Pokora’s MP3, and joined Sagon for the project Djafoul Koncept. In 2010 he opened for 50 Cent at the Zenith de Paris while unveiling his first studio album, Yes I Kent; after inking a deal with Warner the subsequent year, he delivered Vendeur de Rêves in 2012.
