Two friends who both turned 13 on November 27 and bonded over blogging launched Blog 27 in 2005. A cover of Italian Euro-dance star Alexia's "Uh La La La" quickly stormed the Polish pop charts. Building on that momentum, the pair issued the follow-up single "Hey Boy [Get Your Ass Up]" and the full-length album LOL, which connected powerfully with the tween female audience, reached number one on the Polish charts, and earned double platinum certification in short order. The group fused Disney-flavored tween-pop with crude lyric content, pairing sugary beats and light riffs against suggestive or angst-filled lines in tracks such as "Hey Boy [Get Your Ass Up]" and "Fuck You". Co-founder Alicja Boratyn announced her departure in late 2006, leaving Tola Szlagowska as the sole frontwoman at age 14, backed by a modest band and two dancers. Szlagowska returned in early 2008 with the second album Before I'll Die, again landing inside the Polish Top Ten through a somewhat rougher sound that appeared to borrow from Avril Lavigne's example of using musical growth to pursue wider respect.
