Simon Fuller, the manager behind the Spice Girls, assembled S Club Juniors in 2001 through a string of open auditions staged across the country; the process was captured for the CBBC series S Club Search, and the newly formed act was initially likened to the veteran British pop outfit S Club 7. Jay Asforis, Daisy Evans, Calvin Goldspink, Stacey McClean, Aaron Renfree, Hannah Richings, Francesca Sandford, and Rochelle Wiseman made their first public appearance that same year when they opened for S Club 7 at Wembley Stadium in London, a slot that quickly expanded into a full support role on the headliners’ S Club Carnival tour. In 2002 the octet issued its debut album Together, which yielded four Top Ten singles on the U.K. pop chart. Rebranded as S Club 8 the following year, the group returned with Sundown and again landed two of its singles inside the Top Ten. After appearing in Fuller’s television series I Dream and contributing to the related soundtrack album Welcome to Avalon Heights, the members went their separate ways. A few years later Sandford and Wiseman resurfaced on the charts as part of the Saturdays.
