Rob Kemp, a native of London, started his DJ career upon reaching the age of fifteen. It did not take long for his transition into production to establish him among the standout talents in the post-dubstep scene, noted for originality and inventiveness. His first outing under the Brackles moniker came in 2008 via the Berkane Sol imprint, featuring the track “Glazed” on the A-side of a split 12-inch alongside Shortstuff; this number pulsed with dense, low-end dubstep elements. Several subsequent outings appeared on Pollen and Apple Pips out of Bristol, along with Planet Mu, Brainmath, and Blunted Robots, the latter a venture shared with Shortstuff. These efforts culminated in the compilation Songs for Endless Cities, Vol. 1, marking the first release from Cool in the Pool. A relatively inactive 2011, limited to a single 12-inch on Rinse, preceded his return in May 2012 via the full-length debut Rinse Presents: Brackles.
