Byron Messia fuses dancehall with shades of updated soul, yielding a sleek and alluring vibe that carries broad mainstream pop pull. The single "Talibans," taken from his 2023 album No Love, achieved such explosive reach that Burna Boy joined a remix titled "Talibans II," which became the first release by any Saint Kitts and Nevis artist to reach the Billboard Top 100.

Born in Jamaica, Messia moved to Saint Kitts and Nevis while still an infant. He took up music as a teenager, issuing early projects that included the 2018 full-length S.I.G.H. and the 2020 album Different Perspectives. Further singles and assorted releases followed until his commercial breakthrough arrived with the 2023 album No Love on Ztekk Records, a Geffen subsidiary.

The track "Talibans" from that project spread quickly on the global stage, raising his visibility and drawing fans that included major pop figures such as Dave and Burna Boy. Burna Boy’s admiration for the song led him to appear on a reworked version called "Talibans II," which debuted at number 99 on the Billboard charts in August of 2023. Soon after, Messia issued the new song "Tropicana" in collaboration with Rvssian.
