Drawing from influences that range from Dokken, Iron Maiden, Raven, and Saxon to more recent New Wave of British Heavy Metal acts such as White Wizzard, Enforcer, and the Darkness, the melodic Canadian rock outfit Cauldron first drew worldwide notice through releases like the 2009 album Chained to the Night and the 2016 set In Ruin.

The group came together in Toronto in 2006 after the dissolution of the similarly inclined band Goat Horn, with Jason Decay handling vocals and bass, Ian Chains on guitar, and Myles Deck behind the drums. Their initial EP, Into the Cauldron, surfaced in 2007 and led Earache Records to offer a contract the next year. The trio’s debut full-length, Chained to the Night, followed in 2009, with the second album, Burning Fortune, arriving in 2011. Tomorrow’s Lost, their third studio effort, appeared just a year later, and the second EP, Moonlight Desires, emerged in 2014. Cauldron returned to long-player format with In Ruin in 2016 on The End Records, maintaining their emphasis on tuneful, classic-tinged metal. The New Gods was issued in 2018 through the European imprint Dissonance Productions.
