Biography
Celso Blues Boy stands among the earliest figures to champion blues music throughout Brazil. He shared stages with B.B. King on several occasions across both European and Brazilian venues, and contributed his composition "Mississippi: Sobre Robert Johnson" to the 1995 compilation Indiana Blues. Among his most successful recordings stand "Amor Vazio," "Aumenta Que Isso Aí é Rock'n'Roll," and "Fumando na Escuridão." Over a span of 27 years he issued nine albums, beginning with Som Na Guitarra back in 1984. Already at age four he appeared on a radio program overseen by his grandmother. Following stints as a sideman alongside Raul Seixas and Sá e Gurabyra during the 1970s, he assembled Legião Estrangeira in 1976. The launch of Fluminense FM, a station dedicated to Brazilian rock, brought him airplay and wider notice starting in 1980.
