Ces Cru

Kansas City duo Ces Cru, made up of rappers Ubiquitous and Godemis, introduced classic hip-hop textures to the Strange Music lineup. The act began as a trio in 2000 when Sorceress joined the roster, and they issued their first album, Capture Enemy Soldiers, in 2004. Reconstituted as a duo, they delivered The Playground in 2009, personally handing a copy to Strange Music founder Tech N9ne after he caught their set opening for Devin the Dude in Kansas City. Tech N9ne signed the pair in 2010, and their Strange Music debut, the 13 EP, arrived two years later. Constant Energy Struggles followed in 2013; Codename: Ego Stripper came out the next year and gave the group their first Billboard 200 Top 40 placement. The EP Recession Proof surfaced in late 2015, and the full-length Catastrophic Event Specialists appeared in 2017.
