Biography
Chabuca Granda ranks among the foremost singers throughout Peruvian musical history, and her influence persisted well beyond her passing in 1983. In 1994, Caetano Veloso selected her composition "Fina Estampa" to headline an album, and the next year the track "Maria Lando," which she crafted alongside Cesar Calvo, launched Peruvian vocalist Susana Baca to prominence across North America. The city of Lima has embraced her piece "La Flor De La Canela" as one of its signature anthems. Among the many notable guitarists she partnered with were Oscar Aviles, Martin Torres, Lucho Gonzalez, Alvaro Lagos, and Felix Casaverde.
