Biography
Eva Ayllón, born María Angélica Ayllón Urbina, drew her earliest and strongest inspiration from her grandmother, which prompted her to perform with several children-oriented Afro-Peruvian groups during the opening years of the 1970s. The album Los Kipus y Eva, highlighted by its hit single “Que Somos Amantes,” prompted her to launch a solo career. Her first release under her own name, Esta Noche, appeared in 1978. Honored as the Queen of Landó for her command of that regional folk form, she began drawing worldwide notice when she toured internationally throughout the mid-’90s.
