Tania Libertad

Tania Libertad, a performer from Peru, entered the world in Zaña yet spent her formative years in the seaside community of Chiclayo, launching her renditions of romantic ballads by the time she turned five. Ten years later, while enrolled in fishing engineering courses in Lima, she emerged as a familiar local figure. After settling in Mexico in 1977, she launched a series of intense bolero albums, among them the tribute to Latin music figure José Alfredo Jiménez titled Canta a J.A. Jiménez. She further joined forces with composer Armando Manzanero on the project Libertad de Manzanero and provided musical settings for La Vida Ese Parentesis, the poetry volume authored by Mario Benedetti.
