Biography
Formed as a Norwegian metal supergroup, Chain Collector unites the skills of melodic vocalist Kjetil Nordhus, whose credits include Green Carnation and Trail of Tears, alongside screaming vocalist Svenn Aksel Henriksen from Apostasy and formerly Dismal Euphony. Guitar duties fall to Gøran Bomann of Carpathian Forest and Kjell Jacobsen of Neon God, while Endre Kirkesola handles both keyboards and bass, and Anders Kobro—previously with Carpathian Forest, Green Carnation, and In the Woods...—supplies the drumming. The ensemble first assembled in 2003, and a demo cut the next year earned them a two-album contract from Sound Riot Records, after which they prepared their debut album, The Masquerade, issued in 2005. Nearly all of its music came from Bomann, with additional lyrics supplied by guests Johan Leonard and Mie Storbekken Lindstad; the resulting tracks leveled pointed attacks at the Catholic Church over a foundation of melodic death metal styled after the Gothenburg sound of At the Gates, Dark Tranquility, and In Flames.
