Biography
Indie singer/songwriter Christelle Bofale crafts introspective, exploratory material shaped by indie rock, soul, jazz, African traditions, and artists ranging from Joni Mitchell to (Sandy) Alex G. Her first EP, Swim Team, surfaced in 2019 and took its title partly from a submerged, lo-fi atmosphere.
Born in Texas to Congolese parents, Bofale was raised in a home filled with music, where her father served as both a soukous guitarist and church musical director. A keyboard arrived when she turned four, and she later became self-taught on guitar while in high school. During college she began co-writing with a collaborator, then launched a solo path in late 2016. Father/Daughter Records added her to its roster, releasing Swim Team in May 2019.
