Clint Brown stands among a select group of worship leaders—alongside Ron Kenoly, Tommy Walker, and Alvin Slaughter—who blended CCM textures with contemporary gospel in congregational praise music. He first took up the trumpet and served as drum major of his high-school marching band. After graduation his father arranged a post for him as a natural gas pipeline mechanic, yet Brown soon left the role because it clashed with his musical calling. He chose instead to travel as a church musician, a path that placed him onstage with numerous Black instrumentalists. During those travels he came to Pastor Rod Parsley’s World Harvest Church, the Columbus, Ohio megachurch where he later served six years as music director. Obedient to what he sensed as divine direction, Brown relocated to Orlando in 1992 and established FaithWorld Church, a multi-ethnic congregation that eventually surpassed 6,000 members drawn from more than thirty nations. Each year FaithWorld convenes the Judah Music Conference, a program of seminars and workshops that trains churches across the state in worship, leadership, and ministry fundamentals. Over his career Brown has released more than a dozen albums and written hundreds of praise songs for the church, among them the well-known anthems “Say the Name,” “I Wanna Be More Like You,” “You Are,” and “Lord I Live.” Several prominent figures in gospel, CCM, and praise & worship—Kenoly, Vickie Winans, Martha Munizzi, Beverly Crawford, Marcos Witt, and Paul S. Morton—have recorded his compositions.
