Biography
Cobi's music reflects a pronounced R&B sensibility. At the age of eight a friend of his parents introduced him to several fundamental chords on guitar. From there he cultivated a deep affinity for blues, R&B, and classic rock, moving in his teens from listener to participant by starting a blues band with friends. He subsequently enrolled at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. In 2008 he united with five other young Boston musicians to launch the group Gentlemen Hall.
Gentlemen Hall combined infectious pop melodies and refined vocal harmonies, swiftly rising to prominence on the Boston music scene. The band obtained a recording contract with Island/Def Jam, yet Cobi chose in 2014 to exit in pursuit of a solo path and a fresh artistic vision. Roughly one year afterward the ensemble disbanded. During 2015 Cobi issued a self-titled four-song solo EP and later joined British electronic act Above and Beyond as guest vocalist on tour. In 2016 he released the solo single "Don't You Cry for Me."
