Biography
Curse ov Dialect originated as a vehicle for confronting racism, yet the collective revels in its multicultural makeup through both lyrics and beats that draw samples from global traditions. Three albums circulated domestically in Australia preceded the group’s deal with the American indie rap imprint Mush, whose first U.S. release for the act was the 2003 album Lost in the Real Sky. At that moment the lineup comprised the MCs Raceless, Atarungi, August 2, and Vulk Makedonski alongside DJ Paso Bionic, each member contributing production as well. Mush next backed Wooden Tongues in 2006; thereafter the ensemble placed Curse ov the Kaigen (2007) on Poetic Dissent, Crisis Tales (2009) on Staubgold, and Twisted Strangers (2016) on Monotype. Renowned for extravagant stage presentations featuring elaborate costumes, the group has logged countless tours and served as openers for acts that span Public Enemy to Severed Heads.
