Biography
Philadelphia-based artist Daffo channels raw feeling into songs that shift from intimate, confessional folk to shadowy indie rock textures. Gabi Gamberg, after issuing a handful of bare, lo-fi recordings under their birth name, resurfaced in 2023 as Daffo with the EP Pest, whose track “Poor Madeline” quickly spread as a viral sensation. That momentum secured a contract with the Concord label, which issued a re-imagined “Poor Madeline” in 2024 together with the rugged single “Get a Life.”
Gamberg first reached for songwriting right after receiving a guitar at age nine, treating the practice as both solace and a means to unpack the tangled emotions of adolescence before enrolling at the Idyllwild Arts Academy in Southern California. Online sharing began in 2020 with understated, warmly melancholic cassette demos; the 2021 debut EP Crisis Kit marked a step toward fuller production. Soon afterward the Daffo name was adopted for the 2023 release Pest. Its themes of struggle and anxiety propelled the powerful “Poor Madeline” to breakout status across social platforms, prompting the Concord Records signing.
