Damon Little has risen to prominence within gospel music by crafting songs that confront personal challenges, societal concerns, and spiritual growth alike. His path opened as a participant in the group Nu Beginning, where messages reached audiences through a luminous, forceful voice whose sound draws equally from contemporary R&B and gospel traditions. Solo breakthrough arrived via the 2012 singles “Make a Way” and “Let It Be,” followed by the track “Stand Up,” which logged a record 44 weeks on the Gospel charts; in 2023 he paired with neo-soul diva Angie Stone for the uplifting No Stressing.

Little launched his singing ministry at age five by forming a family group with brothers and cousins. His earliest studio session paired him with his uncle, the great Clarence Fountain of the Five Blind Boys of Alabama. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he passed part of his childhood in Pensacola, Florida, where a resonant style emerged that at moments recalls Al Green or Philippe Wynne, former lead singer of the Spinners. Momentum built after he joined the R&B-influenced vocal group Nu Beginning. The title track from their 2002 album You Can’t Straddle the Fence earned gospel-radio airplay, and the 2004 follow-up Do Right featured “Do Right (How You Gonna Do Right with a Do Wrong Mind),” another gospel-radio favorite.

Once independent, Little carried his ministry to Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and further destinations, often aboard Radio-One’s Gospel Cruise, while logging appearances on TV One, BET, TBN, and the Word Network. Founding his own Little World Music label, he released singles between commitments to ministry work serving the elderly and his role as spokesman for the United Ostomy Association of America. Issued in 2021, “Stand Up” condemned racism and discrimination while affirming faith in the Lord; the song remained on the Gospel Airplay charts for 44 weeks before attaining the number-one position. In 2023 Little scored again with the resilient No Stressing, which paired him vocally with R&B and neo-soul vocalist Angie Stone.
