Devonwho

Devonwho, born Devon Fox, crafts relaxed electro-funk as an American beatmaker whose sound draws from the 1990s G-funk aesthetic yet incorporates sufficient psychedelic elements to align with the Brainfeeder/Stones Throw beatmaking circle. Having started in Portland, he has resided across multiple West Coast cities and helped establish the Klipmode collective near the end of the 2000s alongside regular partners Mndsgn, Suzi Analogue, and Knxwledge. After issuing various digital tracks, appearing on compilations, and sharing a split 7" with drum'n'bass artist dBridge, his 12" EP Keepthafunkalive came out via the Irish imprint All City in 2010, with Strangebrew arriving two years afterward. Dropping Gems put out the full-length cassette Perfect Strangers in 2013. The collaborative EP 2010, recorded with Shigeto and initially slated for All City, surfaced instead as a free download in 2015. One year later, Leaving Records—run by Matthewdavid—released Devonwho's cassette EP Lyon and then the full-length LP Luz.
