Biography
Originating in Texas, the alternative pop/rock quintet Dexter Freebish has never shied away from pop sensibilities. Since the late '90s the group has shaped its resourceful pop approach, drawing inspiration from the Beatles, U2, Jimi Hendrix, the Verve, and Neil Diamond. Frontman Kyle, guitarists Scott Romig and Charles Martin, bassist Chris Lowe, and drummer Rob Schilz eventually converged as the band. Capitol signed them in March 1999, and their single "Leaving Town" later earned Song of the Year honors in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The debut album A Life of Saturdays followed in September 2000.
