Dirty Sanchez first surfaced publicly through a contribution to the 2002 electroclash compilation Badd Inc., namely the cut “Replicunt.” That cerebral and lustful specimen of affected electro stirred talk about the Los Angeles trio inside unmarked dance venues and upscale hair-coloring salons across New York City, then the hub of the short-lived electroclash scene. Jackie Beat, also known as actor/writer/drag performer Kent Fuher, and promoter Mario Diaz handled vocal duties, while DJ Barbeau—who had been involved in Miss Kitty’s notorious fetish evenings at Hollywood’s Dragonfly club—supplied the turntable backing. The project operated chiefly as a live performance outfit until early 2004, when Cleopatra issued the Really Rich Italian Satanists EP. The record contained the trio’s boldly vulgar and swiftly outdated standout “Fucking on the Dance Floor” together with an NC-17 reinterpretation of the Soft Cell classic “Sex Dwarf.”
