Emerging onto the scene via a 1989 compilation that spotlighted their track "Rapaza Nacionaliega," Spanish rock band Dixebra released their debut album Grieska on Fono Astur in 1990, where the award-winning "Merucu Xusticieru" appeared, before the 1993 follow-up ¿Asturies o Trabayes?. The name Dixebra, signifying separation, blends Latin ska, folk-rock, reggae, and hip-hop while setting lyrics in Asturias' native language, which marked the group as a singular presence in the area's rock community. Grabaciones L'Aguañera issued 1995's D'Apuntate a la Llista, succeeded by 1997's Dieron En Duru. The band further appeared on the compilation Las Palabras Nos Separan, Los Hechos Nos Unen with Intolerance and Escandalo Publiko.
