Dulce Quental first rose to prominence in the early 1980s through her dual role as lead singer and songwriter for Sempre Livre, the ensemble that scored a major success with "Eu Sou Free." Released in 1985, her debut solo album Délica incorporated explorations of bossa nova textures. Her songs have since been interpreted by Capital Inicial, Leila Pinheiro, Barão Vermelho, Cidade Negra, Ana Carolina, Nico Rezende, and Daúde, among additional artists.
